About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
Graduates of the PGCertGIS will have a high-level understanding of key spatial fields and their theoretical foundations (e.g. remote sensing, spatial analysis). They will also critically employ geospatial tools and technologies to real-world situations and use an in-depth knowledge of underlying spatial concepts to adapt to future changes in geospatial technology and processes. Graduates will be able to effectively communicate the results of geospatial analyses and techniques to industry, government, and be aware of the implications of Geographic Information Science (GIS) on the Treaty of Waitangi. Graduates will be well prepared to undertake GIS roles in relevant science, government, or private sector organisations.

Minimum requirements
A Bachelor s Degree with an average grade of B and two undergraduate GIS courses or extensive relevant industry experience. Entry will require the approval of the Programme Director and information about the admission requirements will be included in the relevant prospectuses.
