What can I expect out of this qualification?
Graduates will be able to demonstrate high-level understanding of the interconnected aspects of environmental science, including the physical causes of and scientific solutions to environmental issues, identification of any impacts and the responses or strategies required to manage those environmental impacts or concerns at local/national/international levels. Graduates will have an excellent understanding of key issues in environmental science. They will be independent thinkers, able to continuously update their understanding and practice in the light of emerging knowledge, and critically reflect on their own knowledge framing. Graduates will be well-prepared to take on leadership roles in environmental science. Likely employment prospects within New Zealand include Crown Research Institutes (e.g. NIWA, GNS Science, AgResearch, Plant and Food Research, Landcare Research), government departments (e.g. Department of Conservation), government ministries (e.g. Ministry for Primary Industries, Ministry for the Environment) local and regional councils (e.g. GWRC) and private companies (e.g. Fonterra, Zealandia, Gallagher Group).

A bachelor s degree in environmental science, earth sciences, chemistry, biology, physics or mathematics with an average grade of B or better, or with the permission of the Head of School.
