About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
This qualification is intended for those who wish to contribute to Māori organisations and other organisations where iwi and hapū development is paramount; engage in collaborative strategic planning and decision making which is informed by kaupapa and tikanga.
The purpose of the programme is to provide whānau, hapū, iwi and associated organisations with graduates who are able to assist in the planning of iwi and hapū development, and actively give expression to kaupapa and the application of associated tikanga Māori.
Graduates will be bilingual researchers who have the capacity to be independent thinkers and practitioners of whakatupu mātauranga using kaupapa and tikanga to guide hapū and iwi local and national affairs. They will be strategic thinkers who explore the development of whānau, hapū and iwi with theoretical knowledge in Māori Laws and Philosophy that enhances the puna mātauranga of their own iwi and hapū.

Minimum requirements
Applicants must be at least 17 years of age. Evidence of support from a hapuu or iwi is to be provided, candidates must be able to satisfy the Puukenga Matua that they have the background which is appropiate for the successful undertaking of the programme.
