About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
This qualification is intended for those who wish to contribute to the reclaimation, preservation and revitalisation of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga to elevate and lead the use of the language in a variety iwi and hapū, educational, and other contexts.
The purpose of the Tāhuhu Te Reo Māori is to provide whānau, hapū, iwi and other organisations with exponents of te reo Māori who are able to work collaboratively to lead the onging development and implementation of te reo strategies.They will also have an advanced knowledge of generic reo Māori and the dialectal language of their hapū and iwi.
Graduates will be able to represent whānau, hapū, iwi and other organisations with authority at local and national level. They will be advanced researchers and consultants who are able to draw on hapū and iwi knowledge to lead the development of te reo Māori and other programmes.

Minimum age 17 years, good oral and written capacity in te reo Maaori as the course is total immersion, support from a hapuu/iwi to conduct research, hold an undergraduate degree or have appropriate knowledge and experience to study at postgraduate level
