About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this programme is to provide a professional qualification for people who wish to be employed to teach in early childhood education, primarily in the New Zealand context. Graduates will have the knowledge, capabilities, attitude, research and reflective practice to provide a sound base for early childhood teaching in a contemporary context. Graduates will be eligible to apply for teacher registration with the NZ Teachers' Council.

Minimum requirements
Whitireia degree entry requirements or equivalent study/work experience and evidence of suitability based on Education Council entry requirements, safety check and confidential references. International: IELTS (Academic) 7, with no band score lower than 7, or equivalent. English as a Second Language (EAL): An EAL candidate s first or primary language is other than English. EAL candidates must demonstrate competency in English as determined by the Education Council requirements
