About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The aim of the Bachelor of Design (Fashion) programme is to facilitate learning by design students in a creative, flexible and collaborative environment within a culture that promotes and supports design driven entrepreneurial opportunities. Graduates will be able demonstrate professional competency, specialised technical knowledge and conceptual skills and make a valuable contribution to the direction and advancement of the creative industries in New Zealand. Specifically, the programme aims to equip students with the tools, techniques and competence, required to work in their chosen career path within the extremely broad field of professional design. The whole model is cognisant of the fact that the design industry is becoming more complex and collaborative - no longer is it possible for any single designer to work in isolation or through all stages of a production process. Designers need to be broad based and have a good understanding of other related specialisations.
