What can I expect out of this qualification?

The aim of the qualification is to prepare candidates to gain entry to the NCNZ register as a nurse, and to meet requirements for conferment of the MIT Bachelor of Nursing degree. Graduates are prepared to work effectively in the dynamic and culturally diverse healthcare environment in a variety of settings, in particular in the community and primary healthcare setting, which is consistent with Government policy.

Minimum requirements

All enrolments in the Bachelor of Nursing programme are subject to the approval of an entry and selection team. All applicants must complete a health declaration and the New Zealand Nursing Council requires criminal convictions to be declared. Applicants must meet the following entry requirements:University Entrance:*NCEA Level 3*Three subjects - at Level 3 or above, made up of:o14 credits each, in three approved subjects*Literacy - 10 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of:o5 credits in readingo5 credits in writing*Numeracy - 10 credits at Level 1 or above, made up of:oachievement standards - specified achievement standards available through a range of subjects, orounit standards - package of three numeracy unit standards (26623, 26626, 26627- all three required).and*A minimum of 12 credits at NQF Level 2 or higher from the subjects listed below:-Biology-Chemistry-Physics-ScienceOrNCEA Level 2*Applicants must hold at least 80 credits at NCEA Level 2, of which 40 credits must be at merit or excellence. Of the 80 NCEA Level 2 credits, studentsmust have gained a minimum of 5 credits in reading and 5 credits in writing inEnglish or Te Reo Maoriand*A minimum of 12 credits from the subjects listed below:-Biology-Chemistry-Physics-Scienceand*A minimum of 10 credits at Level 1 or higher in mathematicsAn interview is required to determine the applicant's preparedness for tertiary studies. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following attributes:*Effective interpersonal communication skills*Good personal presentation*Maturity and a positive attitude*Commitment and motivation to succeedORCambridge International Examinations*120 points on the UCAS Tariff with a minimum grade of D in at least three subjects equivalent to those in the list approved for NZUeBS and NCEA at AS, A2 (or A) leveland*A minimum D pass in IGCSe mathematicsand*A minimum e pass in AS English. Applicants must meet the equivalent science requirements as specified for NCEA Level 2
