What can I expect out of this qualification?

Graduates of this programme will have the knowledge and skills developed through theoretical courses, scholarly inquiry, and clinical practice experience to work as a member of a collaborative team in advanced nursing practice. They will be eligible to apply to the Nursing Council of New Zealand to become a registered nurse prescriber in a designated specialty or with people with long-term conditions.

Minimum requirements

A recognised undergraduate Nursing degree, have a current Registered Nurse practicing certificate from the Nursing Council of New Zealand|Te Kaunihere Tapuhi o Aotearoa and have three years equivalent full-time practice as a Registered Nurse in the area in which they intend to prescribe. At least one year of practice must be in New Zealand and have access to an approved clinical placement with mentorship by a Nurse Practitioner or Medical Practitioner.
