What can I expect out of this qualification?
Graduates of the PGDipCBT will be able to: (a) Demonstrate an appreciation of how colonisation and racism has contributed to poorer (mental) health outcomes in Maori (b) Demonstrate an appreciation of how Maori models of wellbeing overlap and differ from western models of health (c) Be aware of how to ethically set up a treatment frame to work with clients with mental health difficulties and how to adapt this for Maori in respect of contact and interviewing (d) Demonstrate knowledge of CBT formulation skills to conceptualise complex mental health presentations (e) Demonstrate knowledge of specific mental health problems and presentations (f) Demonstrate knowledge of how western CBT needs to be adapted to be relevant for Maori (g) Demonstrate knowledge of how CBT can provided in group settings to deliver cost and time efficiencies in health services.
