About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The programme will enable students to upskill and build on existing capability in laboratory technical skills and knowledge, and enhance employability as laboratory technicians in a wide range of industries. It is targeted at people who have a strong interest in laboratory science, and who wish to work in the life sciences, chemistry, earth sciences, environmental science and associated industries.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

A Bachelor degree in a science relevant to this qualification within the last five years (excluding a CPIT BAppSc). If you completed your degree more than 5 years ago you must have relevant recent laboratory work experience. Alternative requirements Evidence of literacy, numeracy and an ability to study at the appropriate level. This can be through study, work and/or life experience. CPIT literacy and numeracy assessments are available. Additional requirements English requirements If English is not your first language you are also required to provide evidence of your English language skills as listed below. Refer also to the Acceptable Alternatives Chart which includes credits in English-rich subjects from New Zealand educational institutions. If you have no evidence of your English language skills and are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, contact us for an assessment. IELTS 6.5 Academic (no lower than 6.0 in reading and writing subtests and 7.0 in listening and speaking subtests).
