Entry requirements
To be eligible to enrol in this micro-credential, learners/ākonga must be currently employed within the health sector and have:
1. A Level 6 qualification or an equivalent level qualification in a relevant field
OR
2. At least 2 years professional experience in a relevant role within the health sector1.
Where relevant, evidence of English language competence may be in the form of:
- A formal test of English Language, evidence the candidate has achieved, in the 2 years before the programme's start date, the required outcome for one of the internationally recognised proficiency tests as listed in the NZQA Programme Approval, Recognition, and Accreditation Rules (2022) (or as updated).
- the Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) or the Trinity College London Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CertTESOL)
- a Bachelor's degree, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Bachelor Honours Degree, Post-graduate Certificate, Post-graduate Diploma, Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree with English as the language of instruction from a tertiary education provider from New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the Republic of

What can I expect out of this qualification?
The Health Leadership micro-credential is designed to enable current and emerging, clinical and non-clinical leaders within the New Zealand health sector to develop critical leadership skills in the context of dynamic healthcare environments. Learners will critically reflect on their personal and professional leadership practices to develop adaptive, compassionate and inclusive leadership capabilities and identify strategies that foster adaptability, continuous improvement, and culturally safe care. This micro-credential will contribute to developing health leaders equipped to navigate complexity, drive positive change and improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders.
