Entry requirements

Entry is open for candidates 18 years and older with a reasonable understanding of English language, including basic literacy skills, that enables the learner to engage with and understand the learning and assessment material. This will be assessed in an interview prior to the start of the course.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

This micro-credential introduces key concepts of mental health, social, and spiritual support for those working in church, pastoral care and community settings. This a group often lacking confidence and expertise in mental health, while at the same time attempting to minister to a large proportion of the New Zealand population with often significant mental health needs. The emphasis in the micro-credential is on compassionate listening and supportive engagement. These are skills of a support worker with mental health awareness.
