About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this micro-credential is to support the immediate language needs of newcomers. This micro-credential equips learners with the linguistic tools for personal integration, setting the stage for broader participation in NZ society.
The intended learner group for this micro-credential includes former refugees and migrants who are often navigating the dual challenges of settling into a new cultural environment and entering or re-entering a formal learning context. Many in this group have experienced limited, interrupted, or no formal education, requiring a gradual transition into structured educational settings. The course allows learners to develop language skills at their own pace, enhancing their ability to engage with the community and the workforce effectively. This micro credential is especially beneficial for adult learners who require practical language skills tailored to daily life and employment, rather than traditional, full-time educational pathways that may not align with their immediate practical needs.
