Entry requirements
To enter this programme, tauira must be:
- 16 years or older AND not enrolled concurrently in a Secondary school
- A New Zealand citizen
- A New Zealand permanent resident currently living in New Zealand
- An Australian citizen currently living in New Zealand
- An Australian permanent resident who has a returning residents visa and is currently living in New Zealand
- Able to demonstrate the ability to study at level 5 through previous educational and/or vocational experiences.
About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The aim of Tū Māia is to enable tauira to explore the impact of colonisation on Aotearoa's society through the learning and understanding of Māori history, culture and world views. This is enhanced by fostering a deeper understanding of colonial impacts on Te Ao Māori and promoting cultural capability, authenticity, and awareness. As a result, Tū Māia will contribute to a more inclusive and equitable organisational culture in Aotearoa New Zealand.
