About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The rationale of the proposed micro-credential in application 'Where Production Meets Post Harvest' is the alignment potential within Aotearoa New Zealand's research and consultancy services and the Fruition organisation's ability to support the New Zealand horticultural sectors. The micro-credential will enhance advanced technical and management capability in primary industries; particularly within the horticulture and viticulture. The need for higher education provision related to building capability is critical for the horticultural industry. A smaller, stackable qualification affords Māori and Pasifika people the opportunity to learn, while managing community and whānau commitments.
The target students for this micro-credential 'Where Production Meets Post Harvest' are current employees within horticulture workplace environments that demonstrate industry experience and who wish to extend their academic training and/or formalise their industry experience toward recognition in advanced technical skills and management capability for the sector. The micro-credential supports under-served learners, attempting to dismantle physical or mental barriers to learning, through online delivery options, contextualised and responsive learning outcomes and workplace/community cohesion.
