About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
To provide the extractives industry in New Zealand with a recognised training programme that gives an understanding of the key components of a standard operating procedure, and how to write, test and review for an extractive site.
This micro-credential is for extractive industry employees, particularly those wishing to be appointed to a safety-critical role under the Health and Safety at Work (Mining Operations and Quarrying Operations) Regulations 2016. All learners must be in employment in the Extractives industry.

Minimum requirements
"All applicants for this work-based learning programme must be at least 16 years of age; and employed in the extractives industry in a position where that role enables evidence gathering for the assessment tasks as detailed in the programme. Akonga are required to have the support of their employer and the workplace must meet approved training capacity requirements. This micro-credential is designed to be delivered in the workplace. For learners/akonga safety, health, and well-being, and to ensure a valuable experience during the delivery of this micro-credential a workplace training or equivalent must be agreed between the learner, the provider, and the employer."
