Entry requirements

Candidates for the degree of Bachelor of Education (Teaching) Early Childhood Education shall, before enrolment, have:
a. satisfied all the normal requirements for entry into BTI as set out in the General Academic Regulations.
b. provided evidence of English language, literacy and numeracy competency
c. provided permission for BTI to request a Police Clearance Certificate (see below).

d. met the Children's Act 2014 safety checks as identified in the BTI SA.36 Children's Act 2014 - Safety Checks policy.

e. Signed the Student Declaration of Physical and Mental Health and Criminal Conviction
f. a disposition to teach, integrity and the potential to meet expectations outlined in Teaching Council of Aotearoa, New Zealand's Code of Professional Responsibility and Standards for the Teaching Profession

All applicants undergo an interview to establish a disposition to teach and potential to meet the Teaching Council of Aotearoa's Code of Professional Responsibility and Standards for the Teaching Profession.

All applicants must also provide 3 referee reports that attest to their suitability to teach

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The BTI Bachelor of Education (Teaching) Early Childhood Education programme prepares graduate teachers to effectively design and implement holistic, quality education for infants, toddlers, and young children, consistent with a biblical worldview, Te Whāriki, and the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand's Code of Professional Responsibility and Standards for the Teaching profession. The programmes' foundational Conceptual Framework provides the basis for coherence across courses within the programmes which seek to nurture the hearts, minds, and practice of pre-service educators conducive to developing wise educators who are gracious, secure, and teachable and whose practice is relational, responsive and transformative.
