About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The aim of the Graduate Certificate in Addiction Intervention is to allow students to develop and/or broaden their expertise in addiction interventions, underpinned by knowledge of counselling theories and practice. The programme acknowledges the whakapapa, tino rangatiratanga and mana tangata of each student and will support students to become competent, ethical and reflective practitioners with a sound theoretical and skill base and sound understanding of social justice principles and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Minimum requirements
Applicants must have successfully completed the Open Polytechnic OP7800 Bachelor of Social Health and Wellbeing qualification, or a degree in a related health discipline that would lead to recognition by one of the following organisations: * Nursing Council of New Zealand * Social Workers Registration Board New Zealand * New Zealand Association of Counsellors * New Zealand Psychologists Board * Psychotherapists Board of Aotearoa New Zealand If English or Mäori is the not the applicant's first language, applicants will need an IELTS Academic score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5, or equivalent
