About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
Graduates will demonstrate an in-depth and breadth of knowledge and practical skills for employment as an Engineering Technologist within a specialist area of their chosen major of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Graduates will have the ability to apply analytical skills and knowledge of technological principles and physical processes to solve broadly defined engineering problems.

Minimum requirements
Applicants should demonstrate an ability to succeed in the Bachelor of Engineering Technology, shown by the completion of the following qualifications or courses of study: University Entrance - NCEA Level 3 including: Three subjects at level 3 including: - Physics with a minimum of 14 credits - Calculus with a minimum of 14 credits, and - one other subject with a minimum of 14 credits from the list of approved subjects* and Literacy - 10 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of 5 credits in reading, 5 credits in writing and Numeracy - 10 credits at Level 1 or above (specified achievement standards, or unit standards 26623, 26626, 26627 - all three required). The programme requires a standard of English language that will enable students to successfully complete the courses. Applicants whose first language is not English, or who come from a country where the language of instruction in schools or other teaching institutions is not English are required to provide evidence of having passed such tests of English language competence as detailed in Policy and Procedure English Language Proficiency. Students must have achieved an overall IELTS (Academic) band score of not less than 6.0 (with writing and speaking score of no less than 6.0 and reading and listening bands no less than 5.5) or equivalent English Language Test.
