About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to recognise the skills and knowledge required to provide advanced person-centred and/or relationship-centred care and support for a person with complex needs, and their whānau and/or family.
This qualification is targeted at individuals who have significant experience in a health or wellbeing setting and who are looking to gain the additional knowledge and skills required to provide person-centred/ relationship-centred care and support to a person with complex needs, and have the leadership capabilities and technical skills that can be demonstrated in the workplace.
The graduates will benefit by gaining recognition of transferable skills and knowledge valued across the health and wellbeing sectors and the specific skills and knowledge required to perform a role within these sectors.
The community will benefit through the provision of high quality health and wellbeing services by individuals who are trained to support people, their whānau and/or family, and the wider community.
Graduates will be capable of working under broad guidance and may have some responsibility for the performance of others.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Applicants must have: * attained the age of 20 years; AND * completed all requirements of the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3); OR * an equivalent qualification in Health Assistance/Support Work; OR * completed a minimum of two years appropriate work or professional experience in a Health and Wellbeing role, including but not limited to care giver, health assistant or nurse. Special Entry An applicant 20 years of age or over, who does not meet academic entry requirements, may be given entry to the programme if they can provide evidence of their likely success on the programme and following an interview with the Programme Leader. English Language Requirements for International Students International Students with English as a second language must provide evidence of the required English language requirements from an internationally recognised English Proficiency Test. This includes: * IELTS Academic test - with a minimum score of 5.5 and no band score lower than 5. (Scores must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form) * TOEFL paper-based test (pBT) - with a minimum score of 530 and an essay score 4.5 TWE * TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) - with a minimum score of 46 and a writing score of 14 * OET - with a minimum grade C or 200 in all sub-tests * NZCEL - Level 3 (Academic) or Level 3 (Applied) * Pearson Test of English (Academic) - with a PTE academic score of 42 or above and no band score lower than 36 Results must come from one test conducted in the last 2 years. Additional Requirement for all Students Prior to commencing a placement all students will be required to complete a Police Vetting Service Request and Consent form. Any concerns arising from the Police check will be referred to the Academic Board for consideration regarding the student's continued study on the programme. Students may be required to undergo ongoing checks.
