What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the Prisoner Management sector with individuals with the skills and knowledge to be responsible for the efficient and effective operation of a particular unit or area within a New Zealand prison site.
Graduates of this qualification will be able to take responsibility for the overall management of staff and prisoners within the unit or area.
Graduates will support the social and cultural aspirations of Māori, Pasifika, and other communities through their interaction in the prison environment.
The qualification is for people who are employed as or aspire to become Principal Corrections Officers or an equivalent role in a New Zealand prison environment.
