What can I expect out of this qualification?
The logistics and supply chain industry is massive and global. It is an innovative area of business with constantly emerging business processes changes, disruptive technologies, enterprise software, tracking-and-reporting technologies, and business models. The area is fiercely competitive both at the global scale and at the local domestic scale. Companies that can effectively manage procurement, just-in-time delivery, and relationships with third-party suppliers will be able to control their own costs, score win-win solutions with partners, ensure business continuity, and ultimately develop a core competency that underpins competitive advantage and better prices and service for customers. For these reasons, trained and skilled logistics and supply chain managers are in demand in New Zealand, in our major export markets (e.g., India, north Asia, south east Asia), and globally.
The Programme is designed for people with an educational background in business, management, and/or commerce or with high levels of knowledge in a specialist industry, who may wish to enter the area of logistics and supply chain management. Logistics and supply chain professionals may also wish to receive an academic qualification that recognises their experience and supports their career progression into management or advisory positions.
The Programme is also designed for people working with businesses that utilise logistics and supply chain processes, and who seek to gain advanced skills and knowledge to apply to their business environment, whether it be domestic or international.
The purpose of this Programme is to produce graduates who will be well equipped to carry out these roles and aims to produce graduates who will be able to manage complex tasks and strategic challenges in the contemporary, and evolving, logistics and supply chain industry. They will be able to critically evaluate data, qualitative information, and industry trends in order to assess supply chain vulnerabilities and risks, opportunities to reduce cost and improve performance, and to identify, implement, and manage tactics that are innovative and value-adding for their enterprise.
Graduates will be prepared for independent research or to progress to Level 9 study should they elect to move on to study at a higher level.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Academic: Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree or a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in a similar subject, OR relevant skills and knowledge acquired through appropriate work or professional experience. Alternative: Applicants who are unable to evidence that they meet Academic Entry Requirements, but who can demonstrate acquired skills for tertiary study gained through study, work and/or life experience, may be approved for alternative entry. This may include Recognition of Prior Learning. English language: If English is not the applicant's first language, applicants will need to provide a result from a test or qualification on the acceptable alternatives English Proficiency Outcomes Table: IELTS 6.5 Academic (no lower than 6.0 in each band). Note: Applicants who do not have evidence of English language skills and are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, may contact NMIT for an assessment. Note: Applicants who have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance requirements are not required to provide evidence of English language skills.
