What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the Flight Training providers and Airline sectors of the aviation industry with graduates who have attained sufficient operational and theoretical knowledge and practical skills to operate as commercial pilots and/or associated support staff in flight planning and aircraft operations.
This qualification is suitable for people seeking to gain a private pilot licence, commercial pilot licence, and either a flight instructor rating or airline transport pilot licence.
The qualification has three elective strands for pilots to specialise in aeroplane flight instruction, aeroplane airline preparation, or helicopter flight instruction.
Graduates will meet the eligibility requirements to operate as commercial pilots under the appropriate New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) rules for flight instruction or air transport operations such as regional, domestic, charter, or international airlines.

Minimum requirements
To be eligible for entry to this programme, applicants must; Be at least 18 years of age before the date of flight examination or ATPL subject examinations; Successfully complete the ADAPT Trainee Pilot Pre-screening Test; Have completed or be in the process of completing a programme leading to the New Zealand Diploma in Aviation (General Aviation) (Aeroplane) (Level 5) [Ref:3688]; Hold an Aviation Class 1 medical certificate; Meet the 'Fit & Proper Person' requirements of CAANZ; Be competent in spoken English to meet CAANZ; requirements Successfully complete a formal interview
