What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the Flight Training providers and Airline sectors of the aviation industry with graduates who have attained sufficient operational and theoretical knowledge and practical skills to operate as commercial pilots and/or associated support staff in flight planning and aircraft operations.
This qualification is suitable for people seeking to gain a private pilot licence, commercial pilot licence, and either a flight instructor rating or airline transport pilot licence.
The qualification has three elective strands for pilots to specialise in aeroplane flight instruction, aeroplane airline preparation, or helicopter flight instruction.
Graduates will meet the eligibility requirements to operate as commercial pilots under the appropriate New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) rules for flight instruction or air transport operations such as regional, domestic, charter, or international airlines.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Students must: Hold a Class 1 Aviation Medical Certificate before acceptance on to the programme. Be a fit and proper person, meeting the requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand Complete the ADAPT Trainee Pilot Pre-Screening Test; and Achieve NCEA Level 2 (or equivalent) including 14 credits or more in each of English, Maths, Science and a further supporting subject (a pass in all 6 PPL subjects can satisfy entry requirements in the absence of meeting NCEA Level 2 entry requirements); and Successfully complete a formal interview. In addition, International students must; Hold evidence at enrolment of having gained within the last two years: (a) an IELTS score of 6.0 or higher with no subpart (reading, writing, listening or speaking) below 5.5 or the equivalent from another internationally recognised proficiency test, or (b) meet other minimum English language proficiency requirements in Rule 18.3 of the NZQF Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules, such as have evidence of five years secondary schooling (or three years and all primary) in a country where the language of instruction was English.
