About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the electrotechnology industry with commercially competent people who can design, manufacture, test, service, and install electrical switchgear and associated equipment safely.
Graduates will be able to operate independently and will have some responsibility for the performance of others.
Graduates of the optional strand will be eligible to apply to the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) to become a registered and licensed electrical installer.

Minimum requirements
It is recommended for candidates to hold the New Zealand Certificate in Educational Acheivement (NCEA) (Level 2) in Mathematics, Enlish, and Physics or General Science, or have equivalent knowledge and skills before starting this programme. To be eligible for entry. learners must be engaging in work related to the scope of the programme. ICE may enrol trainees working in New Zealand under work visas into this programme without being a signatory to The Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021, until 31 December 2023.
