About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide library and information service providers with people who are able to develop, organise and maintain library services, spaces, digital technologies and collections.
They will know how to utilise Māori information and knowledge with respect for Te Ao Māori (the Māori world) and with regard to the Treaty partnership. They will have skills in multiple literacies and will be able to assist clients to meet their information needs.
The qualification is intended for people working across the library and information sector (including public, school, tertiary, national and special libraries). It will also meet the needs of people who have work or study experience in another sector and who are now planning a career in libraries or related information industry.

Minimum requirements
Academic Entry Requirements Applicants much be at least 17 years old at the start of the programme and have either: New Zealand University entrance; passes in relevant Level 4 New Zealand Certificate / Diploma qualifications considered appropriate by the programme delivery manager ; or an overseas qualification assessed to be equivalent to these by the programme delivery manager. Applicants who have attained the age of 20 years and do not hold the minimum entry requirements will be eligible to be enrolled where their previous educational, or life experience indicates that they have a reasonable likelihood of success. Domestic Language Entry Requirements If English or Maori is the not the applicant's first language, applicants will need an IELTS (Academic) score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5, or equivalent. International English Language Entry Requirements International applicants will need an IELTS (Academic) score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5, or equivalent
