What can I expect out of this qualification?
This qualification provides the light automotive engineering industry with individuals who have attained the knowledge and skills required to safely and effectively diagnose and repair faults that are commonly encountered on light vehicles, including cars, light commercial vehicles or light trailers.
The qualification is designed for individuals who are interested in a career as a light automotive engineer.
Graduates of this qualification can work independently and may take some responsibility for monitoring the workplace.

Minimum requirements
Applicants must: New Zealand Certificate in Automotive Engineering (Level 3) [Ref: 3097], or equivalent skills and experience. Recommended: - A current workplace first aid certificate prior to enrolment in a programme leading to this qualification; and - A Class 1 licence achieved before completion of a programme leading to this qualification.
