Entry requirements

Entry Requirements: Students must: * Be able to access a relevant workplace; and * Have a Bachelor or Bachelor Honours degree in a cognate subject with a B average or above; or * Have a Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma in a cognate subject with a B average or above; or * In exceptional circumstances, based on academic merit and relevant experience, students who do not meet the academic and practical or professional experience requirements above may be considered for admission subject to the completion of any qualifying courses the Postgraduate Board of Studies may prescribe which must be completed either prior to or concurrently; and have * IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band score lower than 6.0, or equivalent or Waiariki English Test 65 with no score lower than 60 for Mentoring and Leadership and Adult Teaching endorsements; or * IELTS Academic 7.0 with no band score lower than 7.0, or equivalent or Waiariki English Test 70 with no score lower than 70 for Vulnerable Peoples, and Infection Prevention and Control endorsements.

The Master of Applied Professional Studies programme aims to provide a flexible range of study options that enable learners to match their needs to the qualification they are seeking to gain and to extend their domain of practice within a chosen professional field. The programme aims to integrate theory with practice within interrogative environments that support learners to broaden their knowledge and experience through: * Reflective practice * Critical evaluation * In-depth analysis of critical social, cultural and professional practice issues * Applied professional practice research * Synthesis and construction of new and/or innovative professional practice initiatives and/or applications * Articulation of personalised professional practice model(s) along with the theories, cultural understandings and experiences that inform the model(s)
