About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the aquaculture sector with people who are able to work as technicians or farm assistants carrying out routine operations involving daily care, husbandry and monitoring of fish or shellfish in an aquaculture operation.
This qualification is for people who wish to work in the aquaculture industry, and to provide formal recognition for the skills of those already working within the industry
Graduates will be capable of working under limited supervision with responsibility for their own work outcomes.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Academic requirements: No minimum academic requirements. English language requirements: If English is not the applicant's first language they will need to provide a result from a test or qualification on the acceptable alternatives English Proficiency Outcomes Chart. Applicants who do not have evidence of English language skills and are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, may contact NMIT for an assessment. * IELTS 5.0 Academic (no lower than 5.0 in any subtest) Note: Applicants who have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance requirements are not required to provide evidence of English language skills.
