What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the New Zealand public with individuals who are competent at providing out-of-hospital clinical care using a patient-centric approach in the ambulance context.
This qualification is suitable for individuals seeking to develop their career within the ambulance and broader out of hospital emergency care sector.
Graduates will be capable of practicing in a patient-centric manner with some clinical supervision as Emergency Medical Technicians in the ambulance context, within a specified scope of practice.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
To enroll in this programme learners must have obtained the New Zealand Certificate in Emergency Care (First Responder) (Level 3) [Ref: 3063]. Where prospective learners hold equivalent knowledge and skills they can apply to St John Private Training Establishment for direct entry into this programme. This process is conducted on a case by case basis. As this programme is assessed using unit standards, learners must have obtained pre-requisite unit standards 29323 and 29325 or provide evidence of equivalent knowledge and skills upon application to the programme. Learners that have completed St John programme leading towards the New Zealand Certificate in Emergency Care (First Responder) (Level 3), will have already obtained unit standards 29323 and 29325. Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.
