What can I expect out of this qualification?

This qualification is for people who want to develop a comprehensive understanding of tikanga in a specialist field founded on a Māori worldview.
Graduates of this qualification will have comprehensive knowledge and skills to manage and lead the practice of tikanga in dynamic contexts.
Graduates of this qualification will be able to apply comprehensive knowledge fundamental to tikanga practices across the community in general.

Minimum requirements

Applicants will have a high level of proficiency in oral te reo Maori demonstrated by the ability to participate in a full immersion environment as evidenced by interview and/or in consulatation with relevant iwi/hapu or organisation(s). This requirement will include the capacity to perform traditional oral protocols and actively participate in rigorous debate/discussion on topical issues that affect Taranaki OR, Successful completion of Te Pokairua Tikanga (Waka, Rongoa, Te Ara Nunumi, Matauranga Maori, Maori Development, Rangahau) Kaupae 5
