About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the airline and military sector of the aviation industry with individuals who have attained sufficient operational skills and knowledge to provide safe, secure and customer-friendly in-flight services, for domestic and/or international flights in either a commercial or non-commercial organisation as a flight attendant tūmau waka rererangi.
Graduates will be equipped with a comprehensive set of skills relating to aviation safety and security, and customer service. Their applied skills and knowledge will involve working under broad guidance, and they may also have some responsibility for the performance of others.
The optional strand in Operator Specific Operational Flight Attending recognises the specific knowledge and skills acquired whilst performing all the duties required of a flight attendant tūmau waka rererangi on operational flights.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Domestic students To be considered for a Level 4 course at the New Zealand School of Tourism, students must meet the following minimum requirements: 1. Must be a 18 years or older on completion of the qualification 2. Must be able to gain a passport without restriction 3. Must be able to meet the relevant aviation regulatory authority security vetting standards 4. Have satisfactorily completed New Zealand or National Certificate qualifications in Tourism & Travel related areas at Level 3. Other equivalent qualifications will be considered. International students To be considered for a Level 4 course at New Zealand School of Tourism, students must meet the following minimum requirements: Be 18 years of age on Day One of the course start date Have 4 years of secondary school or equivalent work experience All Courses are conducted in English and so one of the following English proficiency is required: IELTS 5.5, No individual band to be under 5.0 TOEFL 550 Equivalent qualifications (FCE, CAE, NZCEL, PToE, IESOL, NCEA Level 3) Passed an internal ACG test with 5.5 IELTS overall. From 01 October 2015 this is only applicable for students from markets with over 80 percent visa approval. 5.5 IELTs equivalent letter from an approved partner English school that has an approved NZQA English language proficiency assessment. From 01 October 2015 this is only applicable for students from markets with over 80 percent visa approval. Transferring/graduated from another tertiary training organisation in New Zealand. You may be required to sit our internal ACG English test
