About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide Christian churches, agencies and community organisations with people who are able to evaluate and deliver ministry programmes within their specialist area(s) and lead a wide range of Christian operations.

This qualification is stranded in order to recognise the specific knowledge and skills required in a variety of occupations and contexts in Christian churches agencies, community organisation and not-for profit organisations.

Graduates will benefit by having a qualification which recognises their broad understanding of theology and biblical foundations, evaluation, strategic thinking, and applied Christian leadership skills; enhancing their employment opportunities and/or ability to work in a voluntary capacity.

This qualification focuses on the application of the principles of theology, biblical foundations and ministry in a community of practice through the delivery of programmes and is targeted at individuals who are ready for positions of leadership in a variety of roles. This qualification is also targeted at current practitioners who want to upskill in a particular area of management and/or leadership.

Graduates will be capable of working autonomously within established parameters with some responsibility for the management of learning and performance of others.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Domestic Student Entry Requirements: Applicants must have: - a minimum of 14 numeracy credits at Level 1 or higher in Mathematics or Pangarau on the Directory of Assessment Standards; and - fifty credits at Level 2 or above with at least 12 credits in each of three subjects including a minimum of 8 literacy credits at Level 2 or higher in English or Te Reo Maori; of which 4 credits must be in reading and 4 credits must be in writing; and - the literacy credits were selected from a schedule of approved achievement standards and unit standards found on the NZQA website at 'Literacy requirements for University Entrance' or equivalent to the above or New Zealand University Entrance. Students must be 17 years of age or over. Students aged over 20 years old may apply for mature student entry International students for whom English is not a first language must also either: - meet the English language proficiency outcomes for Diploma level 5 as set out in Appendix 2 of the Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules 2013. Category 1 institutions as defined in these rules may avail themselves of the alternative permitted under rule 18.4 of these rules; or complete two years study at a New Zealand secondary school and achieve either NCEA Level 3 or New Zealand University Entrance or both.
