What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the mining and quarrying industry with managers who have the breadth of technical knowledge, leadership, planning, and business skills and knowledge required to manage or oversee all aspects of operations for a site or business unit. The mining and quarrying industry includes surface and underground sectors.
The surface sector can include mining, quarrying, and/or processing. The underground sector can include mining or tunnelling.
This qualification is targeted at supervisors from within the industry, managers with related experience, or university graduates, who are looking to enter the industry.
Learners will benefit by having a qualification which recognises mining and quarrying management skills, provides knowledge to enable improved job performance, and a credential to enhance employment opportunities.
The mining and quarrying industry will benefit by having managers with the skills and knowledge to undertake and implement all aspects of long-term operational and strategic planning for a workplace.
Graduates will be capable of working in an autonomous management capacity, and are likely to have control over all aspects of long-term operational and strategic planning for a mining and quarrying operation.
