About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide Christian churches, agencies and community organisations with people who are able to operate as senior administrators and leaders, and/or managers.

This qualification is stranded in order to recognise the specific knowledge and skills required in a variety of roles and contexts ranging from the administration of a parish, teaching Religious Education or holders of other roles of responsibility in integrated Christian schools as defined in the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act (1975), to managers of churches, agencies or community organisations.

Graduates will benefit by having a qualification that recognises their advanced evaluation, research, leadership, administration and strategic management skills and knowledge, enhancing their employment opportunities, and/or ability work in a voluntary capacity in Christian churches and their agencies.

This qualification is targeted at individuals who are ready for managerial and senior leadership positions in a variety of roles. This qualification is also targeted at those who want to further their theological studies at undergraduate level; or for current practitioners, such as teachers of Religious Education, who want to upskill in a particular area of Christian ministry.

Graduates will be able to apply in-depth theological and biblical skills and knowledge to inform managerial and strategic decisions; be responsible for leadership and may supervise others.

Minimum requirements

Requirement 1: Applicants must have: - successfully completed the New Zealand Diploma in Christian Studies (Level 5) or equivalent to the above Requirement 2: For international students for whom English is not a first language and who have not completed the New Zealand Level 5 qualification detailed above but have completed an equivalent qualification, it must have: - been obtained from a tertiary education provider from New Zealand, Australia, Canada, The Republic of Ireland, South Africa, the United Kingdom or the United States, AND; - utilised English as the language of instruction and assessment OR For those international students for whom English is not a first language and who meet Requirement 1 with an equivalent qualification, but do not meet Requirement 2, they must instead provide evidence of: - IELTS academic score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5, or; - TOEFL (pBT) scrore of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE), or; - TOEFL (iBT) score of 60 (with a writing score of 20), or; - University of Cambridge English Examination FCE or FEC for schools with a score of 169 and no less than 162 in each skill, or; - NZCEL Level 4 qualification (with the academic endorsement), or; - Pearson Test of English (Academic) score of 50, or - City & Guilds IESOL B2 Communicator with a score of 66, or; - complete Level
