About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

This qualification is intended for experienced individuals who may have intermediate landscape design skills and knowledge and wish to develop more advanced design skills and knowledge to apply to the production of a wide range of landscape designs for a variety of purposes.

It recognises the in-depth design skills and knowledge to inform complex landscape designs either within the parameters of a landscape business or in a self-employed capacity to produce high quality landscape outcomes for residential, commercial or industrial complexes, or parklands.

Graduates will be able to operate independently and may be managing others.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Candidates can gain entry to this programme by meeting one of the following criteria: a) Based on study completed at a NZ tertiary institution: i. The New Zealand Diploma in Landscape (Level 5) Ref: 2888 with strand in Design OR Construction; or ii. An equivalent qualification; or b) Based on work experience: i. Equivalent industry experience consisting of 2 years proven industry employment with verified design or construction portfolio; or c) Based on Discretionary Entrance Applicants who do not meet any of the entry options stated above, and think they have what it takes to complete this programme, can apply for Discretionary Entrance . The application is based on the applicant s ability to demonstrate a likelihood to succeed in the programme. The decision is at the discretion of the Head of School/Centre Director or their delegate. The ability to progress into further study depends on how successful the applicant is within the programme they apply and are accepted into under Discretionary Entrance . Candidates who have English as a second language are required to have an International English Language Test System (IELTS) score of 6.0 in the academic band, with no individual band score lower than 5.5; or equivalent.
