What can I expect out of this qualification?

This qualification is designed for ākonga/learners wanting to develop broad technical skills and conceptual knowledge in digital media and design creative practice.

A range of industries will benefit from graduates who possess digital media and design creative capabilities.

Graduates will be able to operate independently within digital media and design creative and commercial environments.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Applicants should demonstrate an ability to succeed in tertiary study shown by the completion of any of the following qualifications or courses of study: University Entrance or 42 or more credits at NCEA lv3 with at least 2 subjects with a minimum of 14 credits in each; over a maximum of 4 subjects and; a minimum of 24 credits at Lv3 NCEA in Art, Design or Technology subjects and; a minimum of 12 credits in English at Lv2 or higher and; a minimum of 14 credits in Maths at Lv1 or higher or; successful completion of a relevant programme of study at Lv4 or equivalent. Applicants who do not meet the academic entry criteria above may be admitted to the programme if they are able to demonstrate; Equivalent knowledge and skills and/or; Previous and relevant life skills or work experience and/or; Other formal or informal study such as to suggest likelihood of successful programme completion. Applicants whose first language is not English are required to provide evidence of having passed such tests of English language competence as detailed in Policy and Procedure English language proficiency. All Applicants will be required to submit a professional portfolio that demonstrates evidence of creative expression at an appropriate level and attend an interview. Applicants must bring to interview a portfolio containing 12-24 representative samples of their work that reflect their creative skills and potential. Aim to present a range of media evidencing colour, technique, composition and important digital skills. Include work that illustrates your strengths. Also include workbooks to demonstrate the development of their ideas. Portfolios can take a number of different formats and each will be considered on a case-by-case basis
