About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide Aotearoa New Zealand with people who have attained a broad understanding of the core concepts and practical skills in Information Technology (IT), can apply the fundamentals of current and emerging concepts and practice in IT, and are able to proceed to further IT-related study.
As an emerging IT professional, graduates will be aware of appropriate professional practice, and work both as part of a team and independently, under broad supervision.
Graduates of this qualification will have the IT skills that will enable them to contribute to society, supporting digital proficiency and capability in a range of community and voluntary areas.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
(a) hold 40 credits at NCEA level 2 or above, including not less than 10 literacy credits and not less than 10 numeracy credits; or (b) hold the New Zealand Diploma in Information Technology Essentials (Level 4); or (c) hold an overseas qualification evaluated as equivalent to the above; or (d) be able to demonstrate via pre-enrolment assessment equivalent knowledge, skills and experience; and (e) have an English level equivalent to IELTS 5.5 (Academic) (with no band less than 5.0) / TOEFL iBT 46 (with a writing score of 14) / PTE academic score of 42 with no band lower than 36 / AIS Test of English Proficiency (TEP) 48/80 (with no band less than 11); or (f) gain approval under Admission Regulation 3: Special Admission.
