About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the hospitality sector with people who are able to work as junior or trainee hospitality managers, supervisors or team leaders across a range of hospitality sectors.
Graduates will have enhanced employment opportunities within junior or trainee hospitality management, supervisor or team leader roles across a range of establishments in the hospitality sector.
This qualification establishes standards of professional practice for hospitality managers, supervisors or team leaders in a junior or trainee role that can provide customers with confidence in a range of hospitality environments.
Graduates will be able to work autonomously in a range of hospitality environments with some responsibility for the management and learning of others.

Minimum requirements
Academic * A minimum of 60 credits at Level 4 in an appropriate field. OR * An equivalent academic qualification. OR * Relevant industry experience Applicants who have completed any one of the following may apply for direct entry into the programme: HV4540 Careers in Tourism (Level 4) NZ2101 Certificate in Cookery (Level 4) HV4588 Careers in Food and Beverage Service (Level 4) HV4589 Careers in Hotel Reception (Level 4) New Zealand Certificate in French Cuisine (Superior) (Level 4) Certificate in French Cuisine (Level 4) New Zealand Certificate in French Pâtisserie (Superior) (Level 4) Certificate in French Pâtisserie (Level 4) New Zealand Diploma in Cookery (Advanced) (Level 5) with strands in Cookery and Patisserie Diplôme Avancé Culinaire (Level 5) with strands in Cuisine or Pâtisserie * equivalent specialist hospitality or tourism qualification. English Language (for international students) The minimum requirements are: * A minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 5.5, with no band score lower than 5.0, or equivalent OR * Achieved the academic entry requirement in New Zealand or at an institution where English was the language of instruction and assessment.
