About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this programme is to enable graduates to develop research and evaluation skills allowing them to plan for applied research within social work, counselling, and community development, contexts and in related fields in health, education and welfare. Students acquire an understanding of the challenges and opportunities in these contexts that can be explored through applied research. Graduates engage with employers, industries, cultures, and communities. Through transdisciplinary engagement across the major categories of social practice, they can identify, define and contextualise important issues to enhance social justice and challenge structural inequality, with a strong focus on Māori and indigenous practice. Graduates plan for, relevant research projects aiming to provide solutions and innovations that influence practice.
