What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the wood panel manufacturing industry with people who have the skills and knowledge to achieve production requirements as operators in a wood panel manufacturing operation. Each strand represents a process undertaken in wood panelling manufacturing.
Graduates will have the technical skills and knowledge required for the safe and efficient operation of plant and equipment used in one of these processes under limited supervision.
Graduates of Composite Panel Finishing will also be able to sand and saw panels in a wood panel manufacturing operation.
Graduates of Laminated Veneer Lumber and Plywood will also be able to apply glue, grade and layer up laminated lumber or plywood and equipment in a wood panel manufacturing operation.
Graduates of Overlay Bonding will also be able to prepare raw material to produce overlay bonding products in a wood panel manufacturing operation.
Graduates of Veneer Preparation will also be able to prepare feed stock to produce laminated veneer lumber and Plywood for veneer preparation in a wood panel manufacturing operation.
