The purpose of this qualification is to provide the pharmacy sector with people who carry out a range of pharmacy dispensing services, and support the provision of safe, patient-centred healthcare.

Minimum requirements

The entry requirements for this programme are: Minimum Age: Applicants must be aged a minimum of 17 years old at the start of the programmeand meet the academic requirements of this programme Academic Requirements: The New Zealand Certificate in Pharmacy (Introduction to Pharmacy Practice) (Level3) [Ref: 1886] OR An equivalent qualification OR Skills or experience in the health and wellbeing sectors, is required to be held for entry into programmes leading to this qualification. This must be evidenced by a Curriculum Vitae that provides information about the nature of work undertaken by the applicant and the level of responsibility and accountability. Proof of work experience from the employer (i.e., a letter of endorsement or support) will be required. English Language Entry Requirements: Students for whom English is their second language must have English language competence to undertake this programme which is taught and assessed in English. Domestic students who have not undertaken secondary study in English are required to have achieved International Language Testing systems such as (IELTS), Academic score of 5.5, with no band score lower than 5.5; or Language Cert C1 or equivalent. The score must have been achieved in one test taken in the preceding two years. This is subject to NZQA Rule 18, details of which can be found at: http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/about-us/our-role/legislation/nzqa-rules/nzqf-related-rules/the-table/ Access to pharmacy setting for compulsory workplace experience: The geographical range for acceptance of enrolment for this programme is the Greater Auckland region to ensure that NZSE can manage a suitable work placement of 160 hours in a pharmacy setting which is a compulsory requirement for this programme. Domestic applicants may already be working in a suitable pharmacy setting. The suitability of this workplace will be confirmed by the NZSE Pharmacy Tutor or Programme Lead.
